The Centre for Menstrual Cycle and Ovulation Research (CeMCOR) at UBC is the only centre in the world that focuses on ovulation and the causes for, and consequences of, ovulation disturbances. It has received international recognition for its education and research into physiological changes in women’s menstrual cycles and ovulation and their effects on the bones, heart, breasts, and brain. Its solid foundation of scientific evidence has helped to generate new, more effective programs and practices, and will eventually create new national and international standards in women’s health.
CeMCOR’S goal is to do good science that honours the voices and experiences of women. Researchers with the Centre are documenting variations in the menstrual cycle and ovulation in the context of the lives of women of all ages. This research also has significant impacts on understanding diseases such as breast cancer, heart attacks and osteoporosis.
