Southern Medical Program
When it opens its doors in 2012, the Southern Medical Program (SMP) at UBC’s Okanagan campus will be another significant step toward improving the health of the population by addressing the shortage and uneven distribution of physicians in the province. The SMP will become the fourth site in UBC’s MD undergraduate program. Admissions will be processed centrally by the UBC Faculty of Medicine and students will share the same curriculum as their peers in Victoria, Prince George, and Vancouver. We are seeking funds to provide bursaries to students of the SMP. Bursaries assist with expenses incurred while pursuing a UBC education, and are based on financial need. Thanks to the support of a generous donor, we are able to match donations for SMP bursaries dollar for dollar at a minimum of $30,000.
